The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested Evangelist Bitrus Ayuba (Dr), a fake syndicate who promises recruiting innocent citizens to the corps.
The revelation was made known by the Deputy Commandant-General, DCG, Engr Suleiman A. Bello while parading the culprit and his victims before newsmen in Abuja.
He said that the current sighting and documentation have helped to expose some applicants with fake appointment papers.
Engr. Bello further stated that six people have also been nabbed in Lagos and efforts are being intensified to intercept the source of the papers adding that it has been alleged that various sums have been collected from ignorant, desperate applicants.
He explained that the fake syndicate was arrested in New Karu by the neighbours who thought he is a very influential person in the society before parting with their money for employment.
The Deputy Commandant-General stated that the three people presented their letters to the screening committee but the signature was found to be forged pointing out that they traced the source to evangelist Bitrus Ayuba.
When Newsday interviewed the culprit, he said: “I have a spiritual problem which comes intermittently. I am bound to make mistakes as a human being. I have been in pain for four weeks. My integrity is at stake”
Asked how much he collected, Ayuba said it is N325,000 (three hundred and twenty five thousand Naira).
Another victim Adejo Phillips and electrical/electronic engineer said he paid a whopping N195,000 (one hundred and ninety five thousand Naira) to the fake syndicate.
He claimed it was paid for three people in three tranches of N55,000, N80,000 and N60,000 respectively to the man of God whom he had known over three years for employment. Ugwuze Obinna, trader, who felt swindled said he fell victim to Evangelist Ayuba because he had two unemployed sisters and wanted them gainfully employed stressing that he coughed out N60,000.00 in two installments.
He said that it was when the culprit asked for more money that he rebuffed him saying he should have been informed the deal was for N100,000 (one hundred thousand Naira)it will be recalled that Ayuba has been caught in 2008 over same offence.

If we can have graduates of secondary schools that have skills in building, carpentary, tailoring and in other technical, Nigeria will be better for it the minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufai has said.
She said this recently during the visit to the federal technical college Orozo while National Examination Council (NECO) was writing their last remaining paper which was on the 12th and 13th July.
The minister went round the school and promised that there will be renovations and improving the facilities that is in the school also look into the environment and take care.
She mentioned that if we have such technical schools in the country, though we have them but not adequate like federal technical in Abuja, well we are really been of hopes.
“We need to improve in all our other school in the states and have more this technical colleges and uphold introduce the issue of entrepreneurship of education in our tertiary institution to have our graduates that are self-employment” minister said.
Explained that “if we continue to provide regularly technical students that can be self employed instead of looking for government Job”.
“Of course government offices are saturated so we need to do something graduates that can be on their own after schools”.
Prof Rufai also interfered that during the NECO exams or others exams “we need invigilators weather civil defence or not, we need people that can be around us to ensure that we do away with exam malpractices. We have that problem but it has been resolved”, she added.
Minister admired the candidates taking wood-work exam saying that “I wish most students are registered in this course, because it is something that can give students skills in which as soon as they finish even at this level of secondary school they would be able to start on their own”.
She called on the parents and students to be more courageous in registering in these particular subjects.
The registrar NECO Prof Promise Okpala said that the volume of this last exam was at low volume and there was no problem in that particular hall monitored.
“Security situation was quiet okey, I mean the federal technical college Abuja was really calmed”.
Prof Okala revealed that during this year NECO examination that the major problem they have, involved supervisors and an accident “people who were involved in exams were involved in road accident. We lost two people in the south-west which we participated in the burial ceremony” he said.
He said at this period we have about 370 vehicles in the field involving 100 of drivers. |
