Press Release
The attention of the Good Governance Group [GGG] International has been drawn to spurious allegations and coward like threats through text messages by a faceless group in Akwa Ibom accusing our organisation of siphoning money from Akwa Ibom State Government.
We wish to state here for the world to know that the humble effort of the GGG to shower up support for the incumbent Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio stemmed from our firm belief that the chief executive has done so much to advance the course of democracy in the state by introducing laudable people oriented projects which have placed the state on the frontline of rapidly developing states.
Even his worst critics have acknowledged that Obong Godswill Akpabio has done so much for the state and he is still prepared to do more if given the opportunity in 2011. We are not campaigning for the governor due to any monetary inducement. We have never done any contract for the state and even the Newsday Newspapers which the President of GGG publishes does not get as much patronage from the government like other media houses across the country do.
Like we said earlier, we are impressed by what the governor has done for the state since coming to office. The three senatorial districts are now enjoying the dividends of democracy and the majority of the people are happier for it.
The empty threats by faceless groups will not deter GGG from carrying out its mandate of supporting viable efforts on the part of government to move the ship of state further than the shores where envious enemies of development and progress would want it to remain forever.
Every indigene of Akwa Ibom State needs to support the government in the best interest of our state. Politics apart, truth cannot be buried for too long. We should have the courage to support those who are doing well to do more. Everybody cannot be there at the same time. Leadership is something that can only be done turn by turn. This is the essence of democracy. Leadership cannot be achieved through threats and intimidation like the faceless group has resorted to doing.

Chief Cyril A. Mbah,
National Publicity Secretary |
