Commissioner For Finance Eulogizes Staff

The State Ministry of Finance has been described as one big family with very good and cooperative team players who are ready to work towards implementation and realization of Government Policies.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Bassey Akpan, stated this at the occasion of the Send-forth/reception organized by the Ministry of Finance for the out going/incoming Permanent Secretaries and Directors of Administration and Supplies, held at EEMJM Hotel and Suites Ltd, along Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo recently.
Mr. Akpan said his Ministry is blessed with very competent, diligent and dedicated staff that any Commissioner would be proud to work with, adding that for any leader to succeed and be termed as being 'good', he needs such followers.
Extolling the qualities and virtues of the two Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Sylvester Udo, out going and incoming Mrs. Cecilia Udoessien, the Finance boss described them as diligent, meticulous, competent and seasoned administrators who are always out to achieve the best for the state.
Commissioner Akpan noted that the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service is blessed and loaded with well-equipped human materials that can hold their own. He said the duo have been very exciting to work with describing the present Administration as a visionary one with a mission. He urged staff of his Ministry and indeed, all Civil Servants in the State to continue to cooperate and do their very best in the implementation and realization of Government's policies and programmes for the good and benefit of the people.
Earlier in her welcome address, the incoming Permanent Secretary, Mrs Cecilia Udoessien, described her colleague and predecessor, Mr Sylvester Udo, as manager, who performed well in the state and expressed appreciation for working tirelessly toward the success of the Ministry of Finance, using the opportunity to call on all to continue to render selfless service to the State.
In his response, the outgoing permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and presently, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Sylvester Udo expressed delight for being so honoured, and applauded the Commissioner and staff for their concern.
Mr. Udo attributed the success he recorded in the Ministry of Finance to the Commissioner; Mr. Albert Akpan, whom he said influenced him tremendously, thereby, changing his mentality on many issues.
While harping on the need for hard work, dedication to duty and honesty, the permanent Secretary asked for forgiveness from whoever he may have offended in the course of his work as he had also forgiven all that offended him. Proposing a toast for the well-being of the honourees.
The Ministry of Finance and the entire Akwa Ibom Civil Service, Acting Director, funds Monitoring Unit, Mr. Friday Udoh, tasked all to work for the good and upliftment of the State.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of souvenirs to the out-going Permanent Secretary, Mr. Sylvester Udo, and Director of Administration/Supplies, Mr Eddie Eyibo while, the Ministry of Finance Choir added colour to the occasion with beautiful renditions.
