Conference of Nigeria Political Parties [CNPP] has congratulated Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over his victory at the Appeal Court, Benin.
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of CNPP, Mr. Osita Okechukwu commended the Nigerian Judiciary for upholding the verdict of the lower tribunal.
Mr. Okechukwu said the judgment further restored the hope of Nigerians that justice would be delivered without fear or favour in other outstanding cases before it.
The CNPP, who commended Comrade Oshiomhole for his resilience, and perseverance, urged him to remain focused in tackling the challenges of steering the affairs of Edo State.
Meanwhile, Comrade Oshiomhole has paid a surprise visit to the State House Abuja to confer with President Umaru Musa Yar'adua on the outcome of the Edo election petition which declared the trade unionist victorious last week.
Oshiomhole was spotted at the villa on Thursday and was ushered into the office of the president by aides fifteen minutes after arrival with a compliment of escorts and Edo Government House aides wearing the characteristic khaki French suit which has become a trade mark dressing for the fire-brand unionist.
The youngest governor had an hour long discussion with the president and came out of the meeting brimming with smiles flanked by eager aides.
In a brief chat with State House Correspondents, Oshiomhole said President Yar'adua promised to cooperate fully with him in the development of Edo state and in ensuring that democracy dividends were brought to the long-suffering people of the state.
“I had a useful discussion with the President.
He congratulated me and promised to cooperate with me in the development of the state and in the provision of democracy dividends to my people at all levels,” a happy looking Oshiomhole said.
The governor has since returned to Edo State and has already taken far-reaching steps to set up his cabinet.
