The honourable member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Simeon Iwunze has shed more light on the manifest bill which he sponsored and which was passed by the honourable house.
Iwunze said the essence of having the bill was to know the occupants of any commercial vehicle transiting from one area to another, especially this period the state was about witnessing an influx of visitors from different parts of the country.
He added that the manifest when properly filled would enable government or transport company to pay a certain sum of money to victims in the case of an accident as compensation and also get the attention of relations of the victims.
The former Executive Chairman of Isiala Mbano L.G.A. who expressed happiness that the bill had been passed by his colleagues in the House, also expressed optimism that efforts would be made to get Governor's accent to the bill.
He appealed to the press to use their various media to enlighten the public and sensitize them on the importance of putting down their correct names, addresses, phone numbers, addresses of next of kin and other personal data on the manifest form while travelling.
