Consequent upon the diligent activities of the State Security Service, SSS, has nabbed Fabian Bassey Essian and Cyprian Okeke for unpersonation.
In a statement made available to Newsday, by the Assistant Director, operations and intelligence, Uthman Aliu revealed that Fabian Essien, 37, from Akwa-Ibom was arrested at Confidential Hotel, Nyanya for alleged recruitment and training of young SSS men and ladies preparatory for deployment.
Aliu said, the culprit claims to have been employed in the SSS by one Ene Udo Mkpang now at large who swindled him of about N270,000.00 to enlist him.
The Assistant Director further stated that to perfect his deceptive ploys, he gave them service members, identification cards bearing the name sacred security service, SSS with rank of “commandant” adding that some of the recruits that doubted his authenticity changed it to State Security Services, SSS.
However, he was not the only person involved in the illegal recruitment, as one Cyprian Ifesinachi Okeke, (alias Barrister) was named as a facilitator.
His words: “Cyprian Okeke is not only a member of this syndicate that exploits unsuspecting jobseekers for financial gains, but impersonates the legal profession”.
He maintained that initially their activities where situated at Keston Hill-Top Resort, close to Benue links Transport Company and shrouded insecrecy but feeling unsafe, they relocated to Graceland barden, Mararaba, Nasarawa state.
Conclusively, it has been established that the duo are fraudsters who are exploiting the un-employment fever to extort money from unsuspecting job-seekers.
He therefore advised job-seekers to avoid falling into the hands such tricksters to avoid being swindled.
Also indicted in the 4-1-9 deal is one Ismaili Sani who advertised himself as an operative searching for food.
It is on record that the SSS does not levy any applicant or its potential employees, necther does it train its recruits and other staff in beer parlour and relaxation sports.
He warned hotel operators to be security conscious and report any suspicious developments to appropriate quarters.
My Administration Is Ready To
Accept Criticism -Fashola
Gov. Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State recently said his administration was ready to accept criticisms from citizens.
Fashola, who was speaking at Lagos Business School Alumni Association Day in Lagos, urged citizens to proffer solutions and “methodologies” to problems in the state
``Please criticise us logically and constructively by all means because the day we are told that all the state's problems have been solved, we have lost our jobs.
“But our critics must proffer solutions and methods to challenges raised by them,'' he said.
Fashola said that his team did not possess monopoly of knowledge and that suggestions from the public would help to move the state and the nation forward.
The governor specifically appealed for assistance in finding solutions to problem of funding in the housing sector
He said that fears of post-retirement years had always created desperate situation for public servants to corruptly enrich themselves while in service and which had to stop.
