FRSC Launches Accident Health Insurance Scheme At Abuja
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) have launched Road Accident Health Insurance Scheme for the purpose of ensuring that prompt and adequate attention is given to all drivers and the passengers plying road throughout the country incase of accident with a view to providing compensation to the family of those involved.
Speaking at the Venue of the event, the Corps Marshall of the FRSC,Chidoka Osita who was ably represented at the occasion by Mr.Samuel Obayemi reiterated his commission readiness to give necessary support to the scheme while urging all to give their support to the programme for effective management of accident and subsequent payment to members who may be victims throughout the country.
He explained how is Commission is putting all necessary strategies in place to ensuring that the Scheme works for the general interest of the nation and the peoples.
Obayemi stressed the importance of training for drivers in the country disclosing that ten drivers for the ambulances acquired for the scheme is to be properly trained by its commission.
Our source disclosed also that the ten (10) ambulances so far procured by his commission is automatically control by electronics devices thereby making it impossible for any driver who may wants to use it for unofficial purpose.
He said the program would be carried out in all the states of the federation, starting from Abuja, advising passengers who want to travel during this ember months to ensure that they fill their passengers manifest to prevent any unforeseen distorted information while on their way, and to assist in compensation payment in case of any unforeseen situation.
President National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Gidado Hamman in his speech expressed optimism for the workability of the program adding that some Nigerians were very skeptical about the scheme implementation in the country calling on all to lend their support to the scheme for the overall benefit of Nigeria and her citizenry.
He revealed that ten nurses and ten drivers have already been employed by the his organization waiting for orientation by the FRSC, before sending them out for the assignment.
The president who later translate his address in Hausa language for better understanding of all people during the event promised to issue out stickers to all drivers who owns vehicles for onwards transmission of the massage to the people.
