An independent audit team has been engaging by the Akwa Ibom State government to examine the records of the Ibom Science Park Project; the outcome of the audit would enable the government on the next line of action.
The State Commissioner for Science and Technology Mr. Samuel Effanga announced this when the House of Assembly Committee on Science and Technology visited the project site.
He said the Akpabio led Administration was worried about the state of delay on the project.
Commissioner Effanga stated that the essence of the Science Park was to provide an enabling environment for manufacturing company to come in and make use of the facilities to operate.
According to the Science and Technology Commissioner, already a computer manufacturing Company has approached the government for investment but the state was contemplating where to locate it.
The Commission said the ministry was poised to establish computer unit in four schools in each local government area to assist in the development of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
He said already the state government has gone into partnership with Mobil Company to train four hundred and fifty graduates from the state in specialize ICT.
According to the Commissioner, selection has already been done and the training is scheduled to commence this week.
The House Committee Chairman Engr. Akanimo Edet made a case that computer Scientist should be pulled from the Ministry to be posted to Government agencies.
He urged the ministry to take the necessary steps to curb cyber crimes in internet outfit in town.
The House Committee expressed disappointment at the stage of job in the Ibom Science Park noting that Akwa Ibom people where eager to know what was going on with the project.
